The Strega is actually third in a series of planes developed by James Hammond, designer of the very successful Typhoon, Vector and Minivec, just to name a few. The goal was to produce an easy handling and fast F3f model. Yes they are many out there that claim to be faster or best but the Strega was designed with accuracy to be a fully moulded, well finished and fitted out airframe that is at least as good as the best you can buy but for a reasonable price.

The Strega features a two piece wing, supported by a large carbon joiner. The elliptical plan form supports a large speed envelope and has been optimized to give a compromise between good lift distribution without the attendant tip stalling behavior sometimes seen in truly elliptical plan forms. The airfoils used on the wing are a series of non-undercambered sections which descend from 8% through 7.5% to 7% at the wing tips and are the JH8 series.

V-tail is also two piece plug in with pre-installed horns that fit within the removable tail cone.

Flying the Strega is as easy as it is with all well designed sailplanes. With the large flaps down, the Strega slows and handles like a pussycat and can be backed up over the edge for landings. At speed it has amazing energy retention whether “banked and yanked” or “upped and overed”. It tracks well and with coupled flaps/ailerons plus snap flap it just kicks around the turns.

The Strega comes as complete as any F3F sailplane available today, same fit and finish, most fittings pre-installed. Falcon Gliders can also supply padded wing, fuse and tail bags, brass ballast slugs, quality Eneloop battery packs and also full wiring harnesses to speed up your build and get you in the air sooner.
