The H-301 Libelle ("Dragonfly") was well known for being the first certified all fiberglass aircraft in Germany and the U.S., and was produced in substantial quantities between 1964 and 1969 by former Glasflügel director and designer Eugen Hanle and Wolfgang Hutter. Not only did it have flaps, water ballast and retractable landing gear, but it also had two canopy variants. The normal canopy and a sleeker, lower-profiled 'racing' canopy with no side vent. The racing canopy was unusual in having a catch that enabled the front to be raised by 25mm in flight to provide a blast of ventilating air if required, instead of the more conventional small sliding panel used for this purpose. It was also the base for the upcoming series H-20x Libelle and the famous Salto (thus the similarity of the fuselage design).

Our 1:6 semi-scale reproduction is a very high quality, Czech made, fully molded version. The smaller size make it an excellent slope model with good speed and maneuverability. Easy to transport and able to fly on many slopes that 4m sailplanes would struggle with. Coming standard with flaps give the Libelle an extended flight envelope, lending it to small fields or restricted slope landings. With a little camber on the trailing edge, the Libelle will also climb quickly in moderate thermal lift and tracks well in thermal turns. It can be launched by high start or winch and is also suited for aero towing or even for electric conversion.

The kit comes completely finished. The wings are hollow molded, ailerons and flaps are live hinged with cut outs already complete for servo installation. Molded winglets fit beautifully to the wings and are also removable. The wings slide perfectly onto the fuselage with a very sturdy, solid carbon joiner, while the fully molded stabilizer/elevator fitting into a special cut out in the front of the vertical fin and secured with a single bolt. The rudder is also hollow molded and hinged to the rudder post ready for installation. The clear plastic canopy is fitted to the fiberglass tray, molded seat and cockpit interior and features a rear spring latch for very easy access to the fuse but also a clean and professional finish. The Libelle is available with or without retractable landing gear that of course is also factory installed if required.

Everything about the this model is very well done and when finished ready to fly it is a stunning scale model sailplane that is built to perfection. All hardware and instructions are supplied. All that is needed is to install your radio system and you are ready to go flying!
